Terms of use

Last updated 30 October 2026

These terms are between you and Andrey Goussev, who makes Simcoe Trading ("we" below). By installing or using it, you agree to them. The app's own licence, shown in it under Help › About, says the same in more formal words; if the two ever differ, the licence wins.

Not investment advice

Simcoe Trading is a tool for information and research. Nothing in it or on this website is investment, financial, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. MODL's ratings, VAL's valuations, scores, alerts and every other figure come from models and data that can be wrong. Your decisions are your own: if you need advice, talk to a licensed adviser.

Market data

The app fetches its market data, news and filings from free public sources, from your own computer. That data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and a source can change or stop at any time. Don't rely on it where a delay or an error would cost you.

Trading

Simcoe Trading isn't a broker and never holds your money. The TRADE window sends orders from your computer to your own broker account (an Alpaca paper account, or Interactive Brokers, where live orders are off until you turn them on), under your broker's own terms. You're responsible for every order you place, including any placed because of a mistake in the app or its data. Try things with a paper account first.

The licence

Simcoe Trading is licensed, not sold. You may install it and use it yourself. Unless we agree in writing, you may not:

  • copy it, except to install and run it yourself;
  • share, sell, rent, lend or otherwise distribute it, as it is or changed;
  • change it or build other software from it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, or try to recover its source code,

except where the law where you live allows it in spite of these terms. We keep every right not given here.

It's built with open-source software that keeps its own licences (listed on the licences page). Nothing here limits what those licences allow you. In particular, you may replace the Qt and PySide6 libraries inside it with your own modified versions, and reverse engineer the app as far as you need to debug such changes (LGPL-3.0, section 4).

Your account

  • Keep your password to yourself; turning on two-step sign-in is a good idea.
  • Use the app and our server only for your own research, not to collect data in bulk or to overload them. Each account may make a fair number of requests to the server, and no more.
  • Access to the analysis is by invitation. We can approve it, pause it or end it at any time, for example if these terms are broken.

No warranty

Simcoe Trading is provided "as is", without any warranty, express or implied, including that it's fit for a particular purpose, always available or free of errors. Features can change or stop.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we're not liable for any loss or damage from using Simcoe Trading or relying on what it shows, including trading or investment losses, lost data or lost profits.

Changes and the law

We may change these terms; the new version applies from the date at the top of this page. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
